EV Charging Solutions FAQs

EV charging options include home chargers, workplace charging points, commercial charging systems and multi-point installations for fleets, staff, customers or residents. The right charger depends on the property, vehicle type, electrical capacity, usage pattern and whether the system will be integrated with solar PV.

Yes. EV chargers can be integrated with solar PV so that some of the electricity used to charge the vehicle comes from renewable energy generated on site. This can help reduce charging costs and make better use of the electricity produced by your solar system.

Many standard home EV charger installations can be completed within a day. Commercial or multi-point installations may take longer depending on site surveys, electrical capacity, cable routes, groundworks, load management and any required approvals.

EV charger grants may be available depending on the type of property, applicant and current government schemes. Eligibility can change, so it is important to check the latest criteria before planning your installation.

Fast chargers are designed to reduce charging time compared with slower charging options. Smart chargers can optimise charging based on tariffs, energy demand, solar generation and user settings. Smart charging is especially useful for households and businesses looking to manage energy costs more effectively.

Yes. Businesses can install multiple EV charging points to support company vehicles, staff, visitors, customers or fleet operations. Larger systems may include load management to balance charging demand against the site’s available electrical capacity.

EV chargers generally require minimal maintenance, but periodic checks are recommended to confirm that the charger, cabling, safety devices and software are working correctly. For commercial sites, planned maintenance can help reduce downtime and keep charging infrastructure reliable.

Yes, smart charging can be worthwhile for many homes and businesses. It can help reduce charging costs by making use of off-peak tariffs, solar generation or controlled charging schedules. It also gives users better visibility over energy use and charging behaviour.

Yes. EV charging can be combined with battery storage where the system is designed to work together. A battery can store excess solar energy and release it later, which may help support EV charging outside peak solar generation hours.

An EV charger quote usually requires the property address, charger location, vehicle type, parking arrangement, electrical supply details and whether solar PV or battery storage is already installed. For businesses, expected charger usage and the number of required charging points will also be important.

How does solar work?

Solar panels convert the Sun’s light (photons) into a DC current.
The inverter converts the DC current into AC which we use in the property # tip: You will always use any power generated first!!
If your system generates more than needed, this is stored into a battery to use later #Kemblatip : You can use your battery to maximise smart tariffs by charging and discharging to the grid!!!
If there is any spare generation this is then exported to the grid £££.
